ADDENDUM on LABELING of gas installations
Regulators and hoses must continue to be DG approved and marked with both a DG number and an EN number. REGULATORS ACCORDING TO DS/EN16129, ANNEX D
Special rules apply to caravan regulators, which are different from rules for regulators in general. Among other things, caravan regulators have an overpressure valve, which relieves if the pressure in the installation exceeds 150 mbar. This means that caravan regulators must not be used indoors or in awnings. Caravan regulators must provide 30 mbar nominal pressure, all other low-pressure regulators must provide 29 mbar.
OVERPRESSURE VALVE
According to DS/EN1949 point 6.3, all low-pressure caravan regulators must have an overpressure valve, which is activated at a pressure above 150 mbar. TEST POINT
According to DS/EN1949 and the National Safety Agency
instructions, a test point must be mounted as close to the regulator as possible. The test point must then be used for leakage testing of the installation. A test point has two functions: Δ Must protect against back pressure into the regulator during leakage testing, as it can damage the regulator’s
functionΔ Must have a valve for connecting the pressure test apparatus Testpoints from Kosan Gas have a shut-off valve on the regulator side, which can be operated with a screwdriver, as well as an automatic valve for the pressure test apparatus, which
opens when pressure is applied and closes when pressure is not applied. All regulators and switches from Kosan Gas are delivered with an integrated test point. The wall regulator to
1 bottle is designed in such a way that there is no need for a shut-off valve.
GAS HOSES
Connection hoses must have a length of max. 400 mm according to DS/EN1949. In special cases where
if you have an extension on the gas box, the hose between the gas box and the wagon can be max. 750 mm long. In this
situation, a “fixed” installation must be made in the gas box with piping and wall penetration in the gas box.
Instructions can be found in DS/EN1949. The hoses must be approved for -30°C, class 2 for low pressure and class 3 for high pressure.
APPROVAL MARK OF HOSES
An approved label with the date of installation must be fitted to the hoses, which is valid for 2 years at a time, so it is this label that indicates the next replacement, rather than the year printed on the hose. This avoids wasting resources and discarding otherwise excellent hoses from “last year”.
HOSE CONNECTIONS
Kosan Gas recommends following DS/EN16129 annex D, which prescribes 1/4″ left-hand thread when connecting the hose to the regulator.
This ensures that the camper will not have problems with authorities in other EU countries regarding the regulator.
It also has the advantage that it is easy to switch to a local Annex D caravan regulator if the camper is forced to use foreign
gas cylinders with a different valve type.
